9月22日 [广州] 国际照明业内最具权威的大赛之一--2006GE爱迪生奖照明设计大赛亚太区正式启动. 恰逢广州国际设计周其间, 亚洲各国知名和具有潜力的专业设计师,建筑师和工程师汇聚一堂,共享设计行业的一场盛宴. 众多专业媒体和主流媒体应邀出席了此次活动. GE相关人士表示,我们非常高兴地看到来自亚洲各地的设计师来参加我们的活动, 我们通过此次大赛能够给照明专业设计师权威而公正的认证和褒奖,同时对他们在照明行业作出的突出成就引起公众的关注. 获奖者不仅会被颁予特制的水晶奖杯,同时有机会受邀去美国参加GE全程赞助的国际照明之夜的颁奖典礼.

　　 1983年美国通用电气照明公司创设GE爱迪生照明设计大赛. 为鼓励亚太地区照明设计行业中的卓越成就, 亚太大奖在此基础上建立起来的. 秉承爱迪生发明创新的精神, 大赛旨在推选和嘉奖那些在照明设计项目当中通过运用GE照明产品出色地发挥和体现照明设计精髓的专业人士. 所有在截稿日期2006年12月31日之前完成项目, 同时在2007年1月1日之前递交作品的专业人士都有资格参加此次活动. 亚洲区域内胜出选手不仅会得到业内权威的认可, 拓展职业发展道路, 同时亦会被推荐参加全球大奖评选. GE公司将全程赞助获奖者在2007年5月在美国纽约举行的全球照明之夜颁奖典礼.

　　此次大赛的评审阵容非常权威,包括国际灯光协会主席葛兰姆费尼克斯, 国际室内设计师协会副主席罗锦文和GE照明学院负责人关于评审标准, 玛丽 佩思.向我们解释说, 为全面而公正地奖励亚太地区照明设计师, 我们根据照明功能优异性, 建筑兼容性, 照明产品及技术使用的高效性, 建筑色性及建筑材质的表现性, 节能性和成本性各个方面来对参赛作品进行评判. 同时所有作品在评审过程中保持匿名.

　　GE Edison Award is lightening up for Asian designers

　　[September China] 2006 GE Edison Award Asia - a prestigious lighting design competition first ever lands in Asia. During the time of Guangzhou Design Week, the talents of professional designers, architects, and engineers from nine countries gathered together for the launch ceremony and this stirring competition. One of the organizers from GE said, designers from every part of the Asia really cheer us up by their enthusiasm and inspiring and creative ideas. We hope by the end of the year, will receive many extraordinary projects from these attendees and wish their successes. We will do our best to give them recognition for their careers.

　　With the heritage of Edison, the inventor of the first lamp in the world, the award is to recognize excellence and quality in professional lighting designs that employ significant and creative use of GE lighting products in a lighting design project. Any entrant from professional lighting design area who submits his/her lighting design project by 2006 has the chance to join the competition. The winners of awards will be highly recognized by this one of most significant award worldwide.

　　Concerned as today’s environmental challenges, energy-effectiveness & cost effectiveness is one of the key criteria used to judge entries as special recognition. The award is given to those projects that minimize the use of resources and show exceptional regard for other environmental concerns, while providing high quality lighting. Also which is GE is dedicated working on for more than a century, imagine and build innovative solutions that benefit our customers and society at large.

　　Also there are other 4 judging criteria as functional excellence, architectural compatibility, effective use of state-of-the-art lighting products and techniques, appropriate color, form and texture revelation.

　　Previously, GE Edison Award sponsored by GE is an annual program only ran in the U.S. and Europe. In the 24-year-old history of the award, the competition has not only grown enormously but also recorded great changes in the entire lighting industry. No wonder it is attracting more and more designers into the program who are coming up with lighting miracles.

　　Back to 1983, among 12 entries, Corrigan''''s Jewelry shop was presented with GE Edison Award for its wonderful lighting design with GE PreciseTMMR16. The ceremony was held in a small conference hall.

　　Then in 2005, Dennis Vogel, Keith Irtenkauf and Sonia Noble – three designers from Michigan of the US brought a fantastic lighting system to the Guardian Building, one of the most significant and striking Art Deco skyscrapers in the world. The lighting design demonstrates the historic nature of the building, while highlighting its architecture and unique finishes. They were presented with the 2005 GE Edison Award for their achievement and were awarded personalized crystal trophy during ceremony.
